#the entire drive to the place we were staying was garlanded with little red hammer and sickle flags#just so that it's clear how much i am not making this up. it is legitimately all like this#one of the other students in my program (who is gujarati) upon finding out that i'm malayalee#was like yeah when i was in ernakulam my auto driver gave me a whole (extremely good) lecture on marxism-leninism#and it was like yep average kerala experience#i mean i did see some bjp signs ://// but luckily they were greatly restricted in comparison#anyways when i actually learn enough malayalam i'm going to go on a kerala politics deep dive#perce rambles
